About the Enchanted Quilters’ Quilt
Darlene Demetrick found the pattern in the February, 2009 issue of American Patchwork and Quilting Magazine. The name of the pattern is Zen and was designed by Amy Walsh of Blue Underground Studios.
The fabric was cut by Kitty Sorgen of Friday Harbor, San Juan Island. Blocks were sewn by Karen Alexander, Carolyn Baldwin, Edi Blomberg, JoAnne Bryant, Ginny Burt, Barbara Carver, Darlene Demetrick, Peggy Schuld, Nancy Wallace, Carolyn Woodward and Barbara Gonce. Kitty and Penny Torkington, also of Friday Harbor and Barbara Gonce laid out the blocks, then Barbara Gonce selected and purchased the fabric. The sewing together of the blocks was done by Darlene Demetrick, Peggy Schuld, Nancy Wallace and Barbara Gonce! Del Schuld did the quilting.
Hearing about Tara’s challenges, Barbara Gonce, along with her Enchanted Quilters club on Lopez Island , (San Juan Islands, Washington State near the Canadian border) joined together to make a quilt for the California Farmers’ Markets Association’s raffle to raise funds for the Epilepsy Foundation’s efforts to educate, conduct research and outreach.. The quilt was made with 28 healing hands taking over 300 combined hours and traveling over 900 miles. Their gift from their island to our farmers’ market was raffled on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at 11:30am at the Moraga Farmers’ Market. Congratulations to Mario Lopez of Hollister who won the quilt!
